Michael J. Whitehand was born in 1941 in the East Coastal Town of Yorkshire, England, and largely self-taught. Michael Whitehand is one of England's top maritime artists. He has successfully exhibited his work internationally, and his paintings are in important collections like Britain's recent Prime Minister, John Major. Whitehand's style and the quality of his work are reminiscent of Montague Dawson. Just as with Dawson, Whitehand has succeeded in creating atmosphere, excitement and realistic image.
