Japanese Footed Bronze Meiji Period Hibachi

Wonderful early Meiji bronze footed brazier or hibachi. Measures approximately 16" across and 10 3/4" high, opening is 11". Copper handles, incredibly deep raised panels depicting birdlife and florals with overall scrolling. Great metalwork with beautiful patina. These were designed for heat, with the ability of moving from room to room. This piece was acquired in post-war Japan by United States Army Brigadier General Archibald W. Lyon during the late 1940's.
